We can all benefit from barista training …
Proving that we can all benefit from a spot of barista training, irrespective of how much experience we may already have, Jonathan Wadham, communications manager with Rombouts Coffee has recently spent three days on the machines at the La Cimbali MUMAC Academy, Elstree. Jonathan was looking to take the SCA Barista Skills Professional qualification and says he approached Rob Ward, La Cimbali’s coffee specialist and fellow SCA committee member, as “Rob is a well-respected professional trainer within the coffee industry.” At a professional level, the SCA Barista Skills qualification is a ‘must have’ for head baristas and barista trainers, covering the finer details of espresso technique, grind, water filtration, brew recipes and much more. “This course really pushes the barista to a higher level of understanding and by day three delegates have the necessary skills and knowledge to manage espresso quality across multiple sites, explained Rob. “Jonathan was a very willing and able student and we were delighted to host his training at MUMAC.”“The three-day course was full on and very in-depth, however Rob covered everything in detail and made it interesting and enjoyable. There was a great mix of theory and practical skills, which all helped towards the final exams,” said Jonathan. “I’m glad to say I passed the course and feel that the level of knowledge and teaching style from Rob made this possible.” Well done Jonathan!
